Are you living with diabetes, high cholesterol or other heart problems? Diabetes and Cardiovascular Wellness appointments at Bastyr Center for Natural Health offer a holistic, patient-centered approach to help you with these controllable and preventable conditions.

Patients at all stages of health are welcome, from those who have prediabetes and are seeking a holistic preventive approach, to those with heart failure who want to discuss “health” in the face of disease. Whether you come for primary management or adjunctive care, your clinician(s) will work with your greater health care team – from referrals to local cardiologists to massage therapy and acupuncture.

Your Bastyr Center care team will take the time to get to know you as a person, answer your questions, and walk you through decisions about your health to help you feel more confident and in control of your diabetes or cardiovascular disease care.

Clinical Services Available

Patients in Diabetes and Cardiovascular Wellness benefit from Bastyr Center’s holistic approach that emphasizes education about their condition(s), comprehensive lifestyle guidance, naturopathic perspectives on choices in medications, and recommendations for supplemental nutritional and botanical treatments.

You’ll also benefit from an integrative care model in which licensed specialists from different departments – such as nutrition, physical medicine and counseling – work together to form your care plan. Additionally, your care team will also include advanced clinical students, offering you some of the most up-to-date education, training and research.

Clinical services available at Bastyr Center that are specific to Diabetes and Cardiovascular Wellness include:

  • EndoPAT testing to measure your endothelial function
  • Ankle-brachial index testing to check your risk of peripheral artery disease
  • Expanded lipid profile testing that better evaluates your cholesterol risk prediction

Who Should Schedule an Appointment?

Consider making a Diabetes and Cardiovascular Wellness appointment if you have type-1 or type-2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, or if you’re simply interested in learning more about your risk for these diseases and you would like to explore preventive medical care.
