Karen Hurley, ND
Current Roles
Dr. Hurley is an adjunct clinical faculty member at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, where she supervises clinicians in Team Care. She has taught herbal medicine, clinical laboratory diagnosis and counseling psychology as an academic faculty member at Bastyr University.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Hurley uses natural medicines to treat a wide range of conditions, serving as a primary care physician to children, adults and seniors. Her clinical interests include women’s health and menopause, endocrinology, functional medicine, healthy aging and natural weight loss.
Healing Philosophy
Dr. Hurley says, "I derive tremendous satisfaction from empowering patients to transform their lives. My goal is to help them feel stronger, achieve better function and gain a more joy-filled quality of life."
Past Experience
Dr. Hurley has appeared as a guest expert on the Tacoma FM broadcast “Here 4 You,” speaking on nutrition and detoxification. She traveled to Haiti after the January 2010 earthquake to provide emergency healthcare at a rural clinic.
Education & Affiliations
Dr. Hurley earned her ND from Bastyr University and her bachelor of arts in literature at Northwestern University.
