I am HIV positive, and I don’t think I’d be around today without the care I have received from Bastyr Center for Natural Health. After I tested HIV positive 19 years ago, I went to the Bastyr Center's Immune Wellness Clinic. I've been a patient ever since and to this day I continue to receive treatments that I can’t receive anywhere else, such as peat soaks within their physical medicine department.

What’s unique about the Bastyr Center are the people and the paradigm under which we all come together, both as patients and providers. We're there to maintain wellness and not just solve a momentary health crisis. Bastyr provides me with mentors, people who are ready to travel along my path with me. Natural health care is an integral part of maintaining my overall health. It is not an "alternative" for me. Natural health care takes a truly complementary role. I don’t just look to one modality for my health care; I look to a variety of modalities to provide me with the best, most holistic and well-rounded care I can get.

Medications to treat HIV are quite toxic; because of this, you need to have a foundation of excellent health for the drugs to be effective. Bastyr Center has given me that foundation and the ability to be more in charge of my own health and I'm grateful for how I've been treated.
