Michelle Babb, MS, RD, CD Michelle Babb is a faculty practitioner at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in the nutrition department. She gained extensive experience as a clinical nutritionist and research investigator at the Functional Medicine Research Center, where she provided nutrition counseling and education for patients with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease, diabetes and other conditions. Ms. Babb recently completed a self-directed dietetic internship through the University of Northern Colorado. Her special areas of interest are working with families and children with weight-related issues and attention deficit disorders. She has extensive experience with food allergies and sensitivities, as well as elimination diets. Ms. Babb is currently developing research to explore the long-term effects of family-focused, therapeutic, lifestyle changes on childhood obesity. Her healing approach is to help clients create a lifestyle that is conducive to optimal health through good nutrition, physical activity and stress management. She believes in the body's inherent ability to heal itself.
Ms. Babb received her BA in communications with an emphasis on public relations from Washington State University and her MS in nutrition and completion of the didactic program in dietetics from Bastyr University. She is a member of the American Association of Diabetic Educators, American Diabetes Association, and Washington State Food and Nutrition Council. Ms. Babb is also a certified functional medicine practitioner through the Institute of Functional Medicine, a certified FirstLine Therapy lifestyle educator (providing comprehensive counseling for weight management through therapeutic lifestyle changes), and a certified Shapedown provider, implementing family-focused strategies to combat overweight and obesity in children, adolescents and teens.
