Many of our products are available by prescription only. Products without directions on the manufacturer’s label are not available retail and require a prescription for purchase. Other products have been determined by Bastyr University Formulary Committee to be best dispensed if under the direct supervision of a physician, and require a prescription for purchase.

Bastyr Dispensary honors prescribing rights for health care providers, limited to within their scope(s) of practice as defined by licensure law by their state or province. We do not accept prescriptions from physicians outside of the United States of America. Specific providers include:

• All primary care health providers currently licensed in their state or province. This includes NDs, MDs, DOs, ARNPs, PAs.

• Licensed midwives (LMs, CNMs) currently licensed in their state or province.

• Licensed chiropractors (DCs) currently licensed in their state or province. Exceptions for DCs include all botanical and animal (glandular) products.

• Licensed dentists and podiatrists (DDSs, DPMs) currently licensed in their state or province.

• Licensed veterinarians (DVMs) currently licensed in their state or province.

• Licensed acupuncturists (LAcs) currently licensed in their state or province.
  Note: LAcs are prohibited from prescribing legend substances, cervical caps, diaphragms, and all injectable preparations.

• Registered pharmacists (RPhs, PharmDs) where a current collaborative care agreement has been approved by (and is on file with) the Washington State Board of Pharmacy in accordance with Washington state law. Pharmacists are limited to prescribing only those items specified by their collaborative care agreement.
