| Bastyr Center's nutrition teams use a highly personalized approach to diet and health, emphasizing food quality and self-care. Food allergy and sensitivity, digestive support, immune support and weight-related dietary change are particular areas of interest. The nutrition teams can provide you with dietary recommendations to support healthy living and to treat chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. The teams also provide personalized shopping guidance at local grocery and health food stores. Nutritional goals are achieved through the use of various tools including diet diaries. The nutrition teams act as teachers and collaborators and work within the context of your values and daily life patterns. Many types of diets are prescribed, but an emphasis on a whole foods diet is a common denominator. Nutritional consults are available through self-referral and routinely through referral from primary care physicians. All nutrition team care faculty members are registered dietitians (RDs) with a master's degree or doctoral degree in nutrition.
