 | Overview | FAQs | | | Our physical medicine department offers many ways to improve your well-being, recover from your injuries and strengthen your immune system. You may be referred to the physical medicine department for certain health concerns, such as muscle strains, arthritic and other types of pain, as well as detoxification and immune support. Treatments offered include peat baths, various soft-tissue manipulation, muscle-stretching, and manipulation of the spine and extremities. Physiotherapy techniques such as ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation or diathermy may also be prescribed. One treatment called constitutional hydrotherapy, an older method of stimulating the body’s vital force, is often prescribed. Treatment can involve alternate applications of hot and cold water to promote circulation. Colon hydrotherapy is a frequently prescribed part of a detoxification plan. Initial physical medicine appointments last for one hour, and follow-up office calls range from 15 minutes to one hour.
